Former millionaire Mandla Mthembu has been thrown out of a motel after failing to keep up with the R300 daily rental.

Former millionaire Mandla Mthembu is homeless. He has been thrown out of a motel after failing to keep up with the R300 daily rental.

Sowetan has reliably learnt that Mthembu, who was married to drama queen Khanyisile Mbau, is now a hobo after being kicked out of Croydon Motel in Isando, Ekurhuleni, last week.

“He is now living in a back room with a friend. He won’t go to his mother’s house in Soweto because there are people waiting to make fun at him,” said a source.

Mthembu and Mbau liked to show off their wealth, which included two Lamborghinis, two Porsches, a R100,000-a-month rented apartment and boasted about expensive overseas trips.

Mthembu’s eviction was confirmed by motel staff.

“We had to ask him to leave as he failed to pay. Although he did not leave a forwarding address, he promised that he would pay,” said the manager, who asked not to be named.

Attempts to get comment from Mthembu failed as he did not answer his phone.

We recently reported that Wesbank, which financed one of the sports cars, was suing him for R2,6 million after he failed to honour their payment agreement.

Documents in our possession show that he paid a R1 million deposit when he purchased the R3,4 million Lamborghini at Bruma Nissan in June 2007.

Instead of sticking to the R15,000-a-month instalment towards the R2,4 million debt, Mthembu, 53, and his 23-year-old wife were too busy posing for pictures with their yellow toys.

We also revealed that Mthembu owed R160,000 after skipping four instalments on another Lamborghini financed by Absa.

Mthembu also has a warrant for his arrest after failing to pay maintenance for his two children since last year.
