jomo kenyata waz a fuckin askari who betrayed (lyk most Afrikan 'leaders' incl mandela) the struugle...but i gotta cum out and defend him on thiz, coz u ppl seem not to ovastand the quote above. its just a parrable for goodness sake. dont take it so literal! the point is that missionaries used religion, together with force ofcoz, to take land from Afrikans. the Gikuyu, kenyata's ppl, fought the british tooth and nail over centuries to defend their land. now, i see that negrophobia is rife here but @sabater to say that "atleast missionaries let us..." is like saying "atleast these rapists were gentler", and hu said we wanted to 'hold churches' in the first place. sure the kenyatas, mandelas, mugabes and them have fuckd us over, but that shouldnt fool us into believing that we were better off colonised and oppressed in the manner that we were.

@nicky, i knw some ppl desperately wish to absolve the white/western world of its guilt but it aint gonna work, the finger will always be pointed. the western world fooled us once, shame on them...they fooled us twice, thrice etc., shame on US! now its time we took stock of their guilt and our guilt/complicity in our downpression and find lasting solutions. for this there are many initiatives, one that i advocate iz the SEPTEMBER NATIONAL IMBIZO (check it owt on facebook).
MUCH LUV N RESPEKT...

I think the point of this quote, regardless of who made it, is that religion somewhat fucked us up. Look at it in whatever way, its true...and dont mistake this for blaming other people. Phorozza, good points, we only have ourselves to blame, and nobody else. I still find it amazing (dont get me wrong) that Africa still talks about Jesus as their savior - have you seen his picture??? Its was the greatest brainwash the missionaries have executed and it works perfectly fine even today! Mind boggling!
