The Amityville Horror (2005)

Based on true events, we recommend You Tubing Amityville hauntings before watching this, just to increase the scare factor. The plotline is of a family that is terrorized by demonic forces after moving into a home that was the site of a grisly mass-murder.

The Omen (1976)

Apart from a demonic little kid called Damien and a battle between good and evil, this movie is filled with strange incidents. Having changed its title from "The Antichrist" to "The Birthmark," the film seemed to fall victim to a sinister curse. Star Gregory Peck and screenwriter David Seltzer took separate planes to the UK...yet BOTH planes were struck by lightning. While producer Harvey was in Rome, lightning just missed him. Rottweilers hired for the film attacked their trainers. A hotel at which director Richard Donner was staying got bombed by the IRA; he was also struck by a car. After Peck cancelled another flight, to Israel, the plane he would have chartered crashed...killing all on board. On day one of the shoot, several principal members of the crew survived a head-on car crash. The jinx appeared to persist well into post-production... when special effects artist John Richardson was injured and his girlfriend beheaded in an accident on the set of A Bridge Too Far. –IMDB

Friday the 13th (1980)

It may be a clichéd setup now, but this movie can still provide a hefty dose of terror. And don’t blame the original for the pile of mediocre-to-awful sequels that followed. There are real scares here, even if they take a bit to materialize. And try not thinking of this movie if you’re ever alone, floating in a canoe, in the middle of a lake.

Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

For some reason, despite all the special effects in the new version of this film, the original is still scarier. Perhaps is the old filming rustic look. Did you know that when it was first released, the film was so horrifying that people actually walked out on sneak previews for it?

Silence of the Lambs (1991)

Perhaps what makes this movie so scary is how real it is. Instead of the walking dead, ghosts and aliens you have a serial killer who is a genius. Hmmm chances you going to be killed by zombies or a clever serial cannibal killer?
