Gordon Ramsay 'takes the cake' at this years Good Food & Wine Show
The highlight of this years Good Food & Wine Show had surely rested on one mans shoulders, and that was Gordon Ramsay. The TV superchef Gordon Ramsay is host of three of the biggest shows on American television Masterchef America, Kitchen Nightmares and Hell’s Kitchen
I can surely tell you he delivered a 10/10 performance. Love him or hate him, he sure knows his stuff, and he entertained the heck out of the crowd as he demonstrated a number of recipes’ including a Pear desert delight all the while shouting out “BOLLOCKS”!
Other show atrractions included the Isidingo Bar (meet the stars), Cupcake revolution (decorate your own Pillsbury cupcake), MTN VIP lounge, Johnnie Wlaker whiskey tasting, Amarula experience, Lindt Chocolate theatre, Huletts baking theatre and the Maserari Lounge (need I saw more?) to name a few.
Other amazing chefs attending the show include:
• Adam Liaw is the winner of Master Chef Australia, which was watched by thousands of South Africans. He will be demonstrating his culinary skills in Asian cuisine and he has a new book out Two Asian Kitchens.
• Sophie Michell has worked at some of London’s best restaurants including The Green House, The Lanesborough and The Embassy. She has a real passion for nutrition and healthy eating. She was the private chef for a world famous supermodel for two years and has cooked for various other A-list clients and is the presenter of the TV series and book Cook Yourself Thin.
• Alvin Quah, another competitor in Masterchef Australia and who was a big hit at the Durban Good Food and Wine Show, will also be showing his skills in Asian cuisine. After numerous years studying, and with a pharmaceutical career behind him, Alvin says that MasterChef Australia has finally given him the opportunity to do what he loves and that’s cooking up a storm.
• Gordon Ramsay’s television shows, books and 12 Michelin stars have won him international fame in just about every corner of the world. This Scottish cooking legend has earned legions of TV fans thanks to shows such as Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen and The F Word. This will be Ramsay’s first Johannesburg appearance.
• Clare Smyth’s credentials are exemplary and her rise to Head Chef at the three Michelin starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is not surprising. Clare’s devotion to her craft and her uncompromising standards, meticulous work ethic are just two of the reasons why she remains the first and only female chef to run a restaurant with this accolade in the UK.
• Silvena Rowe is a Bulgarian-born chef, TV presenter and food writer. She has recently opened a new restaurant Quince in the Mayfair Hotel in London. She has written for The Guardian and cooked for Claudia Schiffer, Tina Turner and Cher. Her book Feasts won a Glendfiddich food and drink award. Specialising in Eastern Mediterranean food, Silvena spends one week each month cooking with various chefs around Turkey, Syria and Jordan. She will be launching her new book Oriental Express at the show. The book is full of Ottoman inspired mezze-style recipes perfect for the summer.

The Good Food & Wine Show took place at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg from September 22 to 25.
