Leading South African retail fashion brand, TFG (The Foschini Group), is challenging design students at top local tertiary institutions to redesign its new range of Gift Cards for 2012

Design students will be required to create four different types of cards – one male, one female, one congrats and one romance card – that will work individually and ‘live’ together as a set. They will also be required to design one type of packaging to accompany the cards. Students will be able to work individually or as a group of up to four.

The winner of the competition will receive a R25 000 TFG Gift Card to be used at any of its 16 retail brands nationwide as well as potentially have their Gift Card showcased in selected TFG stores. A R10 000 cash prize will be donated to the winner’s institution towards a bursary for a promising and passionate design student. Second place and third place designs will receive a R10 000 and R5000 Gift Card respectively.

Poppy Ntshongwana, 5FM DJ, voice over artist and model ; Craig Native, founder of fashion label, Native Clothing and Dion Chang, trend analyst and design consultant will be the judges for the Gift Card Design Competition. The three celebrity fashion icons will partner with Kathryn Sakalis, TFG’s CRM and Communications General Manager and Nicol Rademeyer, Creative and Design Manager at TFG, to find the ultimate creative student Gift Card Designs for its retail stores.

The competition entries close on 30 April 2012 and the winners will be announced on 30 August 2012. The new gift cards will be launched in October. Students can still enter on www.mytfggiftcard.co.za.
