I didn't know what to expect when I first stepped into Student Village but nothing could have papered me for what I wouldcome to learn from my time at student village.

I was warmly greeted by kind faces and interesting people that had a lot to share. I job shadowed Jono Dicks and spent most of my time in the sales department learning how to communicate with different clients and how the smallest things could make or break deals. I attended numerous meetings and learnt a lot from Jono and Simon, his partner, and together they showed me how to use individual skills as well as team work in getting clients interested in proposals.

I was blown away by the programmes and opportunities Student Village has to offer students as well as the determination that was evident in making sure that students had a guide to life. They provided so many opportunities from bursaries, gap year’s and even job opportunities. I realised what CEO Ronen Aires meant by saying “we are here to enrich student’s lives.”

I had never looked at advertising and marketing as being a career choice for me until I experienced it first-hand. I was inspired by the concept of Student Village and the good it does for all students. I was lucky enough to also explore more than marketing at Student Village and was able to work with the IT department. I worked with Duncan and Lyall on the Social media aspect of Student Village which incorporated Twitter an Facebook in order to reach student and make them conscious of what Student Village has to offer.

I was very sad to leave student village and will always remember the unforgettable memories I made and I am truly thankful to all the employees there, which made my stay one that was full of hard work and memories. I understand that I am lucky to have had this opportunity and thus I have decided to try and help students less fortunate then myself by making Student Village known to the student society.

Thank you so much for the unforgettable and inspiring time I had at Student Village and I know that Student Village will continue to grow and achieve great things in the years to come.
